إِن يَسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا۟ وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَٰنَكُمْ
  • Muhammad Habib Shakir: If He should ask you for it and urge you, you will be niggardly, and He will bring forth your malice.
  • Abdullah Yusuf Ali: If He were to ask you for all of them, and press you, ye would covetously withhold, and He would bring out all your ill-feeling.
  • M.Pickthall: If He should ask it of you and importune you, ye would hoard it, and He would bring to light your (secret) hates.
  • Amatul Rahmân Omer: Should He ask you for it (- your wealth) and press you (for it), you would show stinginess and this (niggardliness) will bring to surface your malice (and hatred towards the divine Faith).
  • Maulana Mohammad Ali: The life of this world is but idle sport and play, and, if you believe and keep your duty, He will give you your reward, and He does not ask of you your wealth.
