مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ

Muhammad Habib Shakir: No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it).

Abdullah Yusuf Ali: Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.

M.Pickthall: No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind.

Amatul Rahmân Omer: No people can outstrip its term and none can ever remain behind.

Maulana Mohammad Ali: And never did We destroy a town but it had a decree made known.
