  • فَمَا
  • كَانَ
  • دَعْوَىٰهُمْ
  • إِذْ
  • جَآءَهُم
  • بَأْسُنَآ
  • إِلَّآ
  • أَن
  • قَالُوٓا۟
  • إِنَّا
  • كُنَّا
  • ظَٰلِمِينَ
  • Muhammad Habib Shakir: Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust.
  • Abdullah Yusuf Ali: When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong."
  • M.Pickthall: No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers.
  • Amatul Rahmân Omer: So that their cry meant nothing when Our punishment came upon them except that they (apologisingly) said, `Truly we were wrong-doing people.´
  • Maulana Mohammad Ali: And how many a town have We destroyed! So Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday.
